It was an unbelievable experience: Cricketers spend 'adventurous' rest day

The members of the Bangladesh national cricket team had to serve a two-week quarantine on arrival in New Zealand. They had, of course, been in a bio-secure bubble before in Bangladesh but staying in complete isolation is something unfamiliar to them. That's why they were extremely delighted when granted a day off after practising for two days in Queenstown. 

The joy of the cricketers knew no bounds. The cricketers enjoyed the heavenly beauty of Queenstown as they went out sightseeing under the supervision of the team management. 

Queenstown is famous for adventurous sports and rides such as bungy jumping, white water rafting, jet boating, hiking, skiing, skydiving, snowboarding. Few of the Bangladeshi cricketers did bungy jumping and jet boating.

Taskin Ahmed, the right-arm fast bowler, showed immense courage as he participated in both jet boating and bungy jumping. No one barring Taskin participated in bungy jumping. 

Mahedi Hasan, Naim Sheikh and a few of the members of the management accompanied Taskin in jet boating. Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Afif Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Saifuddin were in another boat.

Jet boating is no less adventurous than bungy jumping. It requires rowing in between mountains at a speed of 80 kilometres per hour. Taskin Ahmed is delighted to spend such an adventurous day. He told The Business Standard (TBS), "We have had some quality time. It was an unbelievable experience. I was slightly afraid during bungy jumping. We don't get to do these often," said the fast bowler. 

"It (two-week quarantine) was a very different experience. After finishing the quarantine, we have had two days of practice. Today we were given leave. The activities today were fantastic and I hope that the tour will bring good results," he added.

Left-handed top-order batsman Naim Sheikh said, "We practised during the quarantine. The wickets here are much better. I tried to enjoy the practise sessions as much as I could. I have come here before, the weather here is very pleasant."

Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the media committee of BCB who's with the team in New Zealand, said, "The boys have had great fun today. They are really happy. The activities today will surely have a positive effect. Nature is so beautiful here than everything seems very pleasant."
