Mahmudullah Riyad and Imrul Kayes starred with the bat on the opening day of the second two-day practice match between Ottis Gibson XI and Ryan Cook XI led by Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque respectively.

At the end the of first day's play, Ottis Gibson XI scored 248 runs for the loss of eight wickets. 72 overs had been played despite rain stopping the play a few times throughout the day.

Opening with the bat, Imrul Kayes was the highest scorer with a brilliant half-century. Before being dismissed by Taskin, he scored 59 off 93 balls with eight fours and one six. Mahmudullah Riad scored fifty as well, scoring 56 off 116 deliveries.

The first two wickets fell quickly before Kayes and Riyad made a partnership of 80 runs.

There were no more big partnerships even though a few of them, especially the 47-run partnership between Riyad and Mosaddek was showing signs of it being a bigger total.

Mosaddek remained not out batting on 29. He has Rubel Hossain on the other side with Hasan Mahmud waiting in line to bat.

For Ryan Cook XI, Taskin Ahmed starred once again with the ball. He took three wickets giving away only 42 runs. His scalps were - Saif Hassan, Imrul Kayes and Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Taskin has been in good shape and rhythm since the restart in both nets and matches.

Apart from Taskin, Mohammad Mithun took two wickets while Taijul Islam, Saif Uddin and Al-Amin had one for each. Pacer Khaled Ahmed remained wicket-less.

ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal, who did not play the first practice match, made his return to the team sheet today. He is playing for Ryan Cook XI. All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz misses the match to be with his expectant wife. Fast bowler Shafiul Islam did not play the previous two-day match due to slight injury. He is not playing in this match as well.

Abu Jayed Rahi, who is under observation despite testing negative a few days earlier, missed out too.

Tuesday will be the second and last day of the practice match. Players will be busy training after this match ends.

A three-day match was supposed to be held but it has been cancelled. The BCB is going to arrange a One Day tournament involving the national team, A team and High-Performance team from October 11.

A Youtube channel named PV Match live-streamed today's play and is expected to do the same on Tuesday.
