I will retire immediately if sent to commando training again: Tamim

The Bangladesh cricket team had done a commando training back in 2007 to work on their fitness and Tamim said that he would retire immediately if they were sent to such a training again.

Fitness is a serious issue for any sport. But in 2007, the Bangladesh cricket team took it to a whole new level as the Tigers went for a week of commando training in the hills.

Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal, who has been hosting a live show on his social media profiles to entertain the mass, told in his last episode with Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad that he would retire immediately if Bangladesh were sent for such training again.

"We had to train like the commandos for around a week. But I have decided that if such a thing ever happens again, I will retire from international cricket that day," Tamim said.

Tamim also said that there were a few fields and he might bomb those fields someday because you had to give 50 pushups while you enter or leave the field.

"We had to wear those army clothing and take weights of 5-10 kg and we had to warm up by running three km. And I might just someday bomb those fields. There are fields where you need to give 50 push-ups if you enter or exit. I will finish off those fields. "

Mahmudullah told an interesting story about former national cricketer Aftab Ahmed in the commando training. Mahmudullah said, "Aftab bhai called me just a day before the training is complete as he was on leave. So I told him not to come because it was very difficult there. But he insisted and came. So, we had a self-assessment session at the end of the day and Aftab bhai sat beside me and fell asleep. I woke him up but he fell asleep again. I told him then that I had warned him beforehand. He was shocked and then asked me how did we manage to go through this for 7-8 days."

Mushfiq also added that after Aftab climbed up a hill, he had to lie down.

Mushfiq also shared his thoughts about that training. He said that he would fall asleep immediately in the sweaty clothes he had trained in because he was very drained due to the heavy training.

Mushfiq also said that despite the training being very tough, he enjoyed it. Tamim warned him from saying anything too positive about the training as they might be sent there again.

Mashrafe said that he did not return the same as he was before going there. He said, "I did not return the same. I had pain everywhere in my body. I enjoyed climbing up hills, diving into the water."

The four of Bangladesh big five was live on the last episode of Tamim's live show on social media on Saturday.
