Right-arm pacer Hasan Mahmud has been included in Bangladesh's Champions Trophy training camp despite not being named in the official 15-member squad.
He will travel to Dubai with the team before returning home once the tournament begins.
As part of their preparations for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, the Bangladesh national cricket team commenced their training camp on 7 February.
The squad completed their third day of practice today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed Hasan's inclusion, stating that a few other pacers are also expected to join the squad for training. It has been revealed that Khaled Ahmed, who impressed throughout the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) while representing Chattogram Kings, will also travel with the team. In total, three to four additional fast bowlers may be included in the training group for the Dubai camp.
Although Hasan joined the squad on Monday, he did not take part in the full training session and was limited to gym work. However, from Tuesday onwards, the 25-year-old pacer—who showcased excellent form for Khulna Tigers in the BPL—will participate in all training activities.
The official Bangladesh squad for the Champions Trophy includes Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and young pace sensation Nahid Rana. Despite this, Hasan has been called up for the preparatory phase due to his outstanding recent performances.
The Bangladesh team is set to depart for Dubai on the night of 14 February to complete their final preparations before the tournament commences. Hasan, along with the other additional players, will remain with the squad for this phase. As part of their warm-up schedule, Bangladesh will play a practice match against Pakistan 'A' in Dubai.
Bangladesh will begin their Champions Trophy campaign the day after the tournament opener, facing India on 20 February at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Following this, they will travel to Pakistan, where they are scheduled to play against New Zealand and the hosts on 24 and 27 February in Rawalpindi.
