Farhaan, Zidane, Shuki make Bangladesh's Asean Cup squad; Kerawala left out
Bishwanath Ghosh misses the Indonesia tournament after a hamstring injury ruled him out for three to four weeks.
England-based forward Farhaan Ali Wahid, centre-back Zidane Alexander Yousuf and Japan-based winger Shuki Itofusa have made Bangladesh's 23-member squad for the Fifa Asean Cup, while US-based goalkeeper Saif Kerawala has been left out.
Head coach Thomas Dooley included the three overseas-based players in the final squad for the tournament, which Bangladesh will play in Indonesia.
Farhaan, who plays for Boreham Wood on loan from Fulham Under-21, is expected to join the national team in Indonesia before the tournament. Dooley has praised the forward's finishing ability and sees him as an attacking option.
Zidane, who plays for Walton & Hersham, has also secured a place in the squad, while Shuki was included after joining Fortis FC from Laos-based Savannakhet Xaythany.
Kerawala, who had joined the national team camp during the selection process, failed to make the final 23. He was among the overseas-based players added to the preliminary squad.
However, Bangladesh will be without defender Bishwanath Ghosh after the right-back sustained a hamstring injury.
The 27-year-old first felt pain in his hamstring on Thursday (10 September). An ultrasound test at Comfort Hospital on Saturday (12 September) showed that he would require three to four weeks to recover, forcing him to withdraw from the national team camp.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh's high-profile midfielder Hamza Choudhury and Shamit Shome have also been included in the squad and will join the team in Indonesia.
Bangladesh are scheduled to leave for Indonesia tomorrow (19 September). They have been drawn in Group A alongside Malaysia, Singapore and hosts Indonesia.
They will begin their campaign against Malaysia on 25 September in Jakarta, followed by a match against Singapore on 28 September and hosts Indonesia on 1 October.
All three matches will be played at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
