Fifa lifts suspension on Pakistan football federation after constitutional changes
This followed the PFF’s approval of the amendments during an extraordinary congress held in Lahore on Thursday, meeting the conditions set by FIFA to end the ban.

FIFA has lifted the suspension imposed on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) following the approval of constitutional amendments, which were validated by both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
On 2 March 2025, FIFA confirmed the decision to revoke the suspension, which had been enforced on 6 February 2025.
This followed the PFF's approval of the amendments during an extraordinary congress held in Lahore on Thursday, meeting the conditions set by FIFA to end the ban.
The PFF had previously faced suspensions in 2017 and 2021 due to third-party interference. However, the suspension was lifted in June 2022 after the PFF's normalisation committee restored control over the federation's premises and finances.
In a statement, the PFF expressed gratitude to FIFA and AFC for their ongoing support, extending congratulations to the Pakistan football community for the resolution. "We thank FIFA and AFC for their continued support of Pakistan football," the PFF posted on X.
The lifting of the suspension ensures Pakistan's participation in the third round of the Asian Cup qualifiers, which begins this month. This had been in jeopardy due to the previous suspension.
Additionally, the PFF confirmed the reappointment of coach Stephen Constantine, who guided Pakistan to their first-ever World Cup qualifying round win in October 2023. Constantine will lead the team in their upcoming match against Syria on 25 March 2025.
