Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed to the field late in the first half of his team's game against Finland at Euro 2020 on Saturday in Copenhagen. The match has been suspended because of a medical emergency.

Around 40 minutes into the game, Christian Eriksen collapsed at the touchline with no players around him. Referee Anthony Taylor, as well as both sets of players, saw the severity of the issue instantly and called on the medical staff.

The UEFA EURO 2020 match in Copenhagen has been suspended due to a medical emergency.

Eriksen received CPR from the medical staff.

Denmark's players, visibly emotional, formed a wall around Eriksen and the medical staff to protect the privacy of the scene.

A Reuters photographer at the game saw Eriksen raise his hand as he was carried from the pitch on a stretcher.

Eriksen has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised, Uefa confirmed through a statement.

"Following the medical emergency for Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET. The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised," a Uefa release said.

Eriksen's collapse and subsequent treatment left the crowd in Copenhagen's Parken Stadium nearly silent, and Denmark's players struggling to hide their emotions. Denmark's captain, Simon Kjaer, stayed by his teammate's side until help arrived. He and goalkeeper Kaspar Schmeichel then moved to midfield to comfort Eriksen's partner, Sabrina Kvist Jensen, when she rushed onto the field.

The game was scoreless when the incident occurred.
