Despite not getting paid yet, Anamul wants to 'approach the BPL positively'

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) introduced a system to ensure timely payments to cricketers participating in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

As per BCB's directives, franchises are required to secure bank guarantees and pay 50% of players' salaries before the tournament begins.

While this rule was adhered to in previous seasons, no cricketers have received any payment ahead of the current season.

The BCB had pledged to revamp the BPL following recent political changes, promising a more organized and innovative tournament.

This season introduced several new elements, including concerts at the three venues, free water for spectators, and enhanced promotional activities.

However, despite these additions, the issue of player payments remains unresolved.

The matter has sparked discussion. Following Monday's opening match, Durbur Rajshahi captain Anamul Haque Bijoy was asked about the situation.

He confirmed that none of the players on his team had received their payments but expressed no concern over the matter. Bijoy stated that he trusts the franchise and views the situation positively.

"We haven't received any payments yet—none of us have. The BPL has just started. We don't want to raise questions or create complications. Cricketers don't want that either. The BPL is watched globally, and such news about non-payment shouldn't surface in international cricket," Bijoy remarked.

He also acknowledged delays in several aspects of the tournament, saying, "We think positively. Hopefully, a structured environment will emerge. Even our jerseys arrived late, and many players received their gear late."

Bijoy remains confident that the franchise owners will settle the payments in due time.

He also believes the BCB will intervene if necessary, saying, "We want to approach the BPL positively. Owners won't leave without paying us, and the BCB will ensure it is taken care of. We assume the delay is due to logistical reasons, but we trust they will address the matter appropriately."
