Bangladesh qualify for World Cup as West Indies fall short despite victory
The Tigresses’ qualification was confirmed after West Indies, who won their final match against Thailand, failed to surpass Bangladesh on net run rate.

Bangladesh have secured their place in the ICC Women's ODI World Cup, despite a narrow loss to Pakistan earlier in the tournament. The Tigresses' qualification was confirmed after West Indies, who won their final match against Thailand, failed to surpass Bangladesh on net run rate.
The final day of the qualifiers was filled with tension and excitement. Having already lost to Pakistan by seven wickets, Bangladesh could only watch as the match between West Indies and Thailand unfolded. Batting first, Thailand posted a score of 166, setting West Indies a target of 167 to chase in their allotted overs. For West Indies to qualify, they needed to chase the target in just 10.1 overs to top Bangladesh on net run rate.
The West Indies got off to a strong start, but despite their aggressive approach, they fell short. They reached 168 runs in 10.5 overs, just missing the required pace. Even if they had scored 172 runs in 11 overs, they could have overhauled Bangladesh, but this too was beyond them.
In the end, it was Bangladesh who qualified for the World Cup due to their superior net run rate, despite West Indies' victory.
