Asia Cup Archery: Shana wins gold in recurve men’s singles

Bangladeshi archer Mohammad Rumon Shana has won gold in the recurve men's singles of the ongoing Asia Cup-World Ranking Archery Tournament (Stage-3).

The 24-year-old beat Shi Zhengi of China by 7-3 set points in the final at Clark City in Philippines on Friday.

On the way to the final, Shana beat Thiha Htet Zaw of Myanmar by 6-0 sets in the round of 16, Thepna Denchai of Thailand by 6-0 sets points in the round of eight and outplayed Yang Huie Jhe of Chinese Taipei by 7-1 sets points in the quarterfinal.

In the day's recurve men's team event, Bangladesh archery team comprising of Shana, Tamimul Islam and Hakim Ahmed Rubel clinched silver at the same venue.

The Bangladesh team, sponsored by Modhumoti Bank Ltd, conceded a 3-5 set points defeat to Chinese team comprising of Xiangshuo Qi, Zhenqi Shi and La Ta in the final.

In the day's recurve mixed team event, Bangladesh team comprising Shana and Beauty Rai bagged bronze beating Yu-Chen Yeh and Zih-Siang Lin of Chinese Taipei by 5-1 set points in the final.
