Apu overshadows Nasir in Dhaka’s victory against Rangpur

Dhaka Division and Khulna Division began their Bangabandhu National Cricket League (NCL) campaign with a win respectively. Khulna division defeated Sylhet division by 8 wickets in the first of the tier-1 matches. The Dhaka division defeated Rangpur in another match at the same level.
Left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam Apu (Dhaka) overshadowed Nasir Hossain as his team beat Rangpur by 80 runs.
Nasir had quite a match to remember with his all-round performance but unfortunately had to be on the losing side. He scored a century in the first innings with bat and then picked up 4 wickets with the ball.
But Apu overshadowed him with tremendous bowling performance in both innings. He ended up with a 10-wicket haul in the match.
Rangpur finished the third day with 2 wickets for 35 runs chasing a target of 264 runs. They could not stand up to Apu's bowling on the last day.
The spinner took 6 wickets for just 64 runs and turned the game alone. No one could cross 30 runs except Rangpur's captain Naeem Islam.
As a result, Rangpur were bowled out for just 183 in the second innings.
Elsewhere, Khulna needed just 67 runs to win the match against Sylhet. Nurul Hasan Sohan's team did not have any problem reaching the target after losing only 2 wickets in 9 overs.
However, Zakir Hossain of Sylhet won the match-best award with a superb performance despite losing the match. The cricketer played a brilliant 140-run innings in the second innings to save Sylhet from an innings defeat.
In tier-2, Dhaka Metropolitan started the journey with a victory against Barishal Division as they defeated the host by 8 wickets at Barisal Divisional Stadium. On the other hand, Chittagong Division defeated Rajshahi Division by 88 runs in Rajshahi.
Chasing the target of 283 runs, Rajshahi started losing wickets at regular intervals. Chittagong's Mehedi Hasan Rana took 4 wickets for the team. Junaid Siddique fought alone on the day; he remained unbeaten on 68 off 163 balls with five boundaries. Rajshahi's innings stopped at 194.
Rana was named as the player of the match with 4 wickets for 35 runs.
