Shakib Al Hasan, the biggest star of Bangladesh cricket, has been the premier representative of Bangladesh in foreign franchise leagues. And with his very recent triumph with Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Shakib marked his fifth title in global franchise leagues.

These five titles include a couple of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Indian Premier League (IPL) titles, along with the sole CPL title.

Shakib's first franchise league title came in 2012 when he lifted the IPL trophy with Kolkata Knight Riders. The trophy was also the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise's first title in the competition, and Shakib played an important part in Kolkata's march to being champions. He played eight out of the 18 matches and was Man of the match twice in the tournament. He picked up a wicket and scored an unbeaten 11 in the final against Chennai Super Kings to help KKR win the trophy.

Shakib won his second franchise league trophy next year when he was triumphant with Dhaka Gladiators in the BPL. Shakib scored 41 in the final as Dhaka beat Chittagong Kings in the final by 43 runs. He played a pivotal part in Dhaka's road to glory as he was adjudged Man of the tournament for the second year in a row for his 329 runs and 15 wickets in 12 matches.

Shakib's next trophy came once again with KKR in 2014 and this time around he played a bigger part in the team's conquest. He played a total of 13 matches to score 227 runs and 11 wickets. Even though he failed to do anything notable in the final against Kings XI Punjab, his role in KKR being crowned champions was crucial.

Shakib led Dhaka Dynamites to the title in the 2016 edition of the BPL after missing out on the title in 2015. He picked up a couple of wickets in the final where Dhaka beat Rajshahi KIngs comfortably by 56 runs. He scored 226 runs and picked up 13 wickets in 14 matches he played, a rather measly performance considering the high standards he has set.

Shakib's final triumph came with Barbados Tridents in 2019, even though he only managed to play six matches in the tournament as he was busy with national duty earlier. He performed well in the first three matches as he was meagre in giving runs and also scored some runs in those matches but was mediocre in the last three matches. But his team managed to beat Guyana Amazon Warriors 27 runs.

Along with all these successes, Shakib also won a couple of trophies with Bangladesh national team, both being the trophies of tri-nation tournaments. Shakib also won the Man of the Tournament award in the 2012 Asia Cup, where Bangladesh ended up runners-up. He also scored 606 runs and picked up 11 wickets in the 2019 World Cup.

A special edition of BPL is set to be held at the end of this year, and it can be said with surety that Shakib will look add one more feather to his crown of supremacy.
