Universal Wins Bid for Bon Jovi Biopic
Universal Pictures has secured the rights to a feature film about Bon Jovi, winning a competitive bidding war to bring the iconic rock band's story to the big screen.
Cody Brotter, screenwriter of the forthcoming crypto thriller Killing Satoshi, is penning the script. No director or cast has been announced yet.
Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi — whose founding lineup includes Jon Bon Jovi, David Bryan, Tico Torres, Richie Sambora, and the late Alec John Such — are Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees behind anthems like Livin' on a Prayer and You Give Love a Bad Name. Whether the film will focus on a single pivotal moment or chart a broader arc remains undecided.
Kevin J. Walsh and Gotham Chopra of Religion of Sports are producing.
The project arrives amid a crowded field of music biopics, with Sam Mendes' four-part Beatles series and the Michael Jackson film Michael both in the pipeline.
