Tagore's 'Brikkho Bondona' comes alive on stage in Dhaka
Dance-theatre production explores Bengal’s six seasons and Tagore’s enduring connection with nature
The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of the High Commission of India in Dhaka staged a special dance-theatre production inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's celebrated poem "Brikkho Bondona" (Ode to Trees) at Chhayanaut Auditorium in the capital today (11 September).
Titled "Dhora Taru Kabyo - Nature's Tale", the production explored the relationship between nature, humanity and the environment through dance and theatre, according to a press release.
The presentation portrayed Bengal's six distinct seasons - from the blossoms of spring and warmth of summer to the monsoon rains, the abundance of autumn and the stillness of winter - while reflecting the beauty, resilience and enduring spirit of nature.

Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury spoke about Bangladesh's diverse cultural heritage and said the government was taking various initiatives to promote culture.
Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi highlighted the strong cultural ties between India and Bangladesh, rooted in their shared heritage, literature and appreciation of nature.
He said the performance served as a reminder of the shared responsibility to respect and preserve nature.
The programme featured Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre, led by Artistic Director Pooja Sengupta.
Through an interplay of movement, music and theatrical expression, "Dhora Taru Kabyo" brought to life Tagore's appreciation of nature and his vision of harmony between human beings and the natural world, the release said.
