Superheroes with weird powers

If you are a superhero fan, then you surely are familiar with their superpowers. Some can fly faster than a bullet, some sling from web to web while some live in dark caves and use cool gadgets. You think you have seen and heard about them all. Or have you?

There are some superheroes with powers so bizarre that you would not want to be a fan anymore. Here is a list of a few selected superheroes with names as awesome as their superpowers.

Zeitgeist (Marvel)

Zeitgeist is a member of the superhero mercenary team X-Force in the Marvel Universe. His real name is Axel Cluney. Cluney's early life is largely in the dark. During a drunken night of romance on a beach, Axel Cluney discovered that he had the power to vomit acid that ended up disfiguring his partner. Later, he decided to use his powers to gain fame and rise as Zeitgeist. When he was older, he ended up joining the X-Force, a superhero team made of mutants who are hired to go on missions.

Big Bertha (Marvel)

Big Bertha is a superhero in the Marvel Universe and a member of the motley superhero team "The Great Lakes Avengers". Big Bertha's real name is Ashley Crawford. Like most superheroes, she leads a double life. Ashley is a supermodel in her everyday life who lives in Milwaukee and has a great body. But when she needs to fight criminals, she uses her tried and true superpower. She can transform into Big Bertha - a woman who has unbelievable strength and an incredibly obese body. After defeating her enemies, Big Bertha sits on top of them, thus making them immobile and, as you can imagine, miserable.

Dead Girl (Marvel)

Dead Girl has quite an interesting story. In her normal life, she was an aspiring actress. She could have become successful, if a one-night-stand hadn't killed her. After dying, the process of mutation in her was triggered and she became an immortal zombie. Apart from immortality, other superpowers she possesses are regenerative healing, limb reanimation, air walking, ability to temporarily reanimate others, and to talk with spirits. Basically, Dead Girl can survive anything - from toxic contamination to a total blow-up, because she is already dead.

Dazzler (Marvel)

Dazzler, whose real name is Alison Blaire, is not only a sparkling disco diva and roller skates, but a beautiful girl who has the ability to turn noise into a light show. For the most part, Dazzler used this ability to develop her singing career. But since she is resistant to almost any type of light and sound, and cannot be killed by conventional methods, Dazzler managed to join the X-Men. Dazzler can create a number of light patterns including stars, circles, triangles and squares. In hand-to-hand combat, Dazzler could temporarily blind her enemy with light, use mist to obscure the surrounding area and create lasers and photon blasts.

Jazz (Marvel)

Jazz, also known as John Zander, appears to be a very special case in the X-Men universe due to the fact that his genetic mutation is not a power, but rather a change to his physical appearance resulting in his skin turning blue. He has no other discernible powers or abilities. However, he is an aspiring rapper.

Arm-Fall-Off-Boy (DC)

Arm-Fall-Off-Boy or Floyd Belkin is a member of the Legion of Superheroes and is a superhero in the DC Universe. This guy does not need to wield weapons in a dangerous situation because he can use his own arms. It does not just mean coming to grips with the enemy here. It means that he literally detaches his upper limbs and uses them as a blunt weapon.

Brother Power The Geek (DC)

Another strange superhero is Brother Power the Geek and he is a former mannequin who was animated after being struck by lightning. This occurrence also gave him several super abilities, such as durability, pain resistance and superhuman strength. Brother Power basically remained a dummy filled with rags, but became a fighter for world peace. For some reason, Brother Power lived with hippies after turning into a living mannequin and accepted their values, thus becoming a hippie himself. Since he was a hard-core pacifist, he rarely used his super-strength and always tried to settle conflicts without fighting.

Kid Eternity (DC)

Kid Eternity, or Chris Freeman, is the boy who "died before his time.' To pay his dues, Chris was returned to life by the Lord of Chaos and was bestowed with a super ability - summoning. From then onwards Chris could summon any real-life or fictional hero to help him. All he had to do was think about the hero he wanted to summon and to say "Eternity." To help the kid use his superpower wisely, and he was given a mentor, Mister Keeper, who accompanied Chris on his adventures.

Bouncing Boy (DC)

While working for a scientist in the 30th century Earth, Chuck Taine accidentally drank an experimental super-plastic fluid while watching a sports event. The fluid drastically altered his body, giving him the power to inflate into a spongy round shaped object that could bounce and ricochet without harm. Accidental interfering with an event, he quickly made his exit and decided to try out for the Legion of Super-Heroes. Chuck tried out twice for the team and was rejected both times. After defeating an electrical villain, Chuck took the name Bouncing Boy and was invited to join the Legion of Super Heroes. His good humour and charming personality eventually led him to proclaiming himself Legion 'Morale Officer'.

Rainbow Girl (DC)

One of the DC characters, Rainbow Girl (Dori Aandraison of the planet Xolnar) first appeared in Adventure Comics #309 (June 1963) as a rejected Legion of Super-Heroes applicant.

Her second appearance was 25 years later in Who's Who in the Legion of Super-Heroes #5 as a socialite.

The character had to for another 20 years to make its comeback on Action Comics #862 as a member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes, an organization of teenage heroes that exists one thousand years in a future universe.
