Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple cameo got cut from 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'

Hollywood star Rosario Dawson has revealed that her cameo as Claire Temple in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" was cut before the latest Marvel blockbuster hit the silver screens across the world.

Speaking at GalaxyCon in North Carolina recently, Dawson said she had filmed a scene for the film but later learned that it would not appear in the final version.

According to Deadline, Dawson made the revelation while responding to a fan who asked which character she would like her character, first introduced via Netflix's "Daredevil", to work with.

She said she could have named Spider-Man because she had actually filmed a scene for the new film, but was subsequently cut. Dawson also joked about the disappointment, saying she was now a "reject of Spider-Man".

She recalled telling her mother about the decision, noting that her mother was more concerned that she could no longer share behind-the-scenes photographs from the production.

The actor said Spider-Man holds particular significance for her because of her uncle Gus, who was a comic-book artist and helped develop her interest in comics. She also noted a connection between Spider-Man and her own childhood, saying one of the newer comics features a young Spider-Man attending a school in New York's Lower East Side where she went to elementary school.

Dawson said she had already prepared a social media post featuring behind-the-scenes material from the film before receiving confirmation that her scene had been removed.

Despite the setback, she expressed hope of returning as Claire Temple in the future, saying the character remains part of the same Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Dawson has played Claire Temple across several Marvel television series released on Netflix, including "Daredevil", "Jessica Jones", "Luke Cage", "Iron Fist", and "The Defenders".
