'Shironamhin' takes legal action against G-Series
Shironamhin's Ziaur Rahman recently submitted a written complaint to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman.
The complaint states, "Recently, it has come to notice that G-Series, a music institution, is illicitly selling several copyrighted songs of Shironamhin to some foreign companies, making a significant amount of money without giving any revenue to the government."
Ziaur shared his experience with TBS, "In 2017, through an agreement, G-Series had distributed our music. The agreement has since expired. The copyright board has also declared G-Series' copyright to be invalid and that the original copyright goes to Shironamhin."

He continues, "On our digital platforms we found that we could not access our first three albums, G Series would send strikes, send take-down notices or would use other digital tactics. They recently sent a strike on 'Bondho Janala' and have put our channel at risk."
In response to this complaint, the Bangladesh Copyright Office sent a letter on 26 May to G-Series CEO Nazmul Hoque Bhuiyan, demanding a written explanation, as per local media.
Later, Nazmul Hoque Bhuiyan informed Prothom Alo that he had received a letter. After discussing with a lawyer, he will provide a written explanation.
