The Rover unveils ‘Ayna’ on 1 October
Dhaka-based Bangali rock and roll band The Rover is set to release its second album, 'Ayna', on 1 October, following the release of its debut album 'Samadharmita' last year.
Described by the band as a double album or compilation, 'Ayna' features all the tracks from 'Samadharmita', alongside 9 new songs and 2 tribute tracks, bringing the total to 18.
The band's music draws from both eastern classical music and western rock and roll, blending psychedelic sounds, eastern classical rhythms, baul-inspired lyrics and rock and roll energy. Across its songs, The Rover explores themes of introspection, self-discovery and a sense of connection with people, other living beings and nature.

Formed in 2017, The Rover currently operates as a three-member band, with Ratul on guitar, Jafri on bass and Tunan on drums. All three members contribute vocals.
For 'Ayna', the band opted for a live recording approach, recording all 18 tracks at Antara Studio over three days. Unlike the more common process of recording individual instruments separately and layering them together, live recording captures the musicians performing simultaneously.
According to the band, the approach was technically demanding but allowed them to preserve the spontaneity and energy of their performances.
The album's tracks were mixed and mastered by Dewan Enamul Hasan (Raju), while the music video for the title track 'Ayna' was produced and directed by Perception Media.
The music video for 'Ayna' will be released on 1 October, alongside the album's release on The Rover's official YouTube channel and Spotify.
Speaking about the idea behind the album, the band members said they wanted to explore the importance of knowing oneself amid the pace of modern life.
"In this mechanical and busy time, we barely find the time to know ourselves or talk to ourselves," the band said. "While making these songs, we felt that knowing oneself is essential to bring a sense of peace to this turbulent life."
Through 'Ayna', The Rover hopes to share its own journey of self-discovery with listeners and encourage them to pause amid the pace of city life, look within and question what they see in the mirror.
