Robert Pattinson's Primetime scores seven-minute Venice ovation 

Robert Pattinson has made a striking impression at the Venice Film Festival, with his latest film 'Primetime' earning a seven-minute standing ovation following its premiere. The actor stars as Chris Hansen, the real-life host of 'To Catch a Predator', in Lance Oppenheim's feature directorial debut.

The enthusiastic response was matched by Pattinson's partner, singer-songwriter Suki Waterhouse, who was among the loudest supporters in the audience. As the applause continued, Waterhouse leaned forward to kiss Pattinson, adding a warm personal moment to an already celebratory premiere.

The reception extended beyond the screening room, with huge crowds gathering outside Venice's Palazzo del Cinema and chanting Pattinson's name. The actor joined Phoebe Bridgers and co-star Skyler Gisondo to sign autographs and pose for photographs with fans.

Backed by A24, Primetime dramatises the production of the controversial reality series, which followed Hansen as he confronted suspected child predators during sting operations. The film is competing for the Golden Lion at Venice.

However, the real Hansen has criticised the project, stressing that he was not consulted and that the film should be viewed as fiction inspired by real events.
