Pritom Hasan and Mehazabien Chowdhury to star in spy thriller ‘Cactus’

Chorki is set to release a new original series, Cactus, this Eid-ul-Fitr. The teaser, published on 4 March, has already sparked discussion online, particularly around the pairing of musician-actor Pritom Hasan and actor Mehazabien Chowdhury, who share the screen for the first time. The series is directed by Shihab Shaheen.

Cactus centres on a skilled hacker, played by Hasan, who is shown as a prisoner drawn back into cyber operations amid a national crisis. Acting with government backing, his character becomes a key asset in confronting a state-level threat. Hasan described the role as having a defined character arc, adding that the hacker's actions are driven by purpose rather than impulse.

Chowdhury appears as Anura, a character introduced in the teaser in an action-oriented role. She said the project required training in action sequences, an area she had not previously explored at this level.

Shaheen has indicated that the series blends technology, espionage and thriller elements, and hinted at the possibility of developing a broader spy narrative universe. The series is scheduled to premiere on Chorki during Eid.
