Marvel reveals star-studded cast for new X-Men film
Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Inde Navarrette, Maya Boyd and Adam Driver will star in the new film, coming to theatres in May 2028.
Marvel Studios on Friday (15 August) revealed the first cast members of its upcoming X-Men film, with Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Samara Weaving, Inde Navarrette, Maya Boyd and Adam Driver joining the project.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the cast during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
Director Jake Schreier joined Sink on stage, where she discussed her role as Jean Grey.
"It is so wonderful to be here and to finally be able to talk about this character after months of speculation," Sink told the audience. "We're here to talk about the X-Men. Should we meet some more of the cast?"
Sink and Schreier then introduced the film's cast, including Connor as Scott Summers, Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Weaving as Emma Frost, Navarrette as Rogue and Boyd as Storm.
Driver later appeared in a video surprise and revealed that he will play Nathaniel Milbury/Mister Sinister in the film.
"When Kevin told me to show up for X-Men, I assumed he meant on set," Driver said.
"So instead of being there in California, I'm here at Pinewood [Studios] on this very lonely soundstage. Kevin and I have been talking for years about maybe joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And I think we finally found the perfect film at the perfect time. So I'm very excited to be playing Mag…. Nope. Even better. Nathaniel Milbury. So I'll be right here, waiting for everybody to show up."
Feige said more casting announcements are expected but said he is excited to introduce the first group of actors, many of whom met backstage at D23 for the first time.
Schreier, who previously directed Marvel Studios' "Thunderbolts*," will direct the untitled X-Men film.
The film is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on 5 May 2028.
