Five most-awaited games to play on PS5

A new console generation is right around the corner, leaving many to wonder exactly what Sony's sleek new PlayStation5 (PS5) has in store for us.

The PS5 will play many of the PS4 games you may already have because of its robust backwards compatibility.

However, new first-party PS5 games will be exclusive to the system instead of getting a cross-generational release to make full use of its cutting-edge hardware. The PS5 is slated for launch near the end of 2020.

Let's buckle up and take a look at five of the most anticipated games confirmed for the PS5 so far.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Sharpen your axes and prepare to sail, because Assassin's Creed Valhalla will throw you into ninth-century England, an age of warring kingdoms and Viking conquest.

Valhalla tells the story of Eivor, a fierce Viking raider leading his clan of Norse people to build a new home in England's fractured dominions.
After sailing across the icy North Sea to flee Norway's endless war and dwindling resources, you will raid, conquer, and fight for glory in a mysterious, brutal new land.

During his epic journey set in 873 AD, Eivor unwittingly becomes entangled in the conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins and the Templar Order. The action-adventure role-playing title recounts an alternative history of the Viking invasion of Britain.

The game is slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077

After the massive success of Witcher 3, veteran developer CD Projekt Red's next masterpiece in-the-making is Cyberpunk 2077 – an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City.

The game puts you in the shoes of V, a mercenary outlaw seeking a one-of-a-kind implant which is rumoured to be the key to immortality, in a sprawling megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and cybernetic body modification.

Players can customise V's cyberware, skillset and play style to their needs, and explore a vast city where every choice shapes the story and the world for the better or worse.

V has access to a wide variety of weapons, hacking skills and implants to become the best mercenary in town. The game is slated for release at the end of 2020.

Stray

Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set in the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cyber city, and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly.

Lost, alone, and separated from your family, you must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city.

You will have to roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.

The cat can be stealthy, nimble, silly, and sometimes as daring as possible. Along the way, you will befriend a small drone known only as B12. With the help of this newfound companion, the duo tries to find a way out of the lonely city.

The game is scheduled for release in 2021.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – a third-person run-and-gun shooter platformer – continues the adventures of the titular duo as they navigate through diverse environments, and kill enemies with an arsenal of deadly weapons and gadgets while traversing obstacles.

Utilising the PS5's ultra-fast SSD hardware, the game introduced a new mechanic of using rift portals to move instantly to new locations or new worlds, without any hint of load screens.

Dimensional rifts are opening up across the galaxy and causing different dimensions to merge with one another, and it is up to Ratchet and Clank to figure out how to stop it.

There is currently no release date for Rift Apart, but there is speculation that the game is getting an early 2021 release.

Dirt 5

Dirt 5 – the latest entry in the critically acclaimed off-road racing series – promises to be bolder and braver than ever before.

Drivers will blaze a trail across the most iconic routes in the world and drive the widest roster of cars from rally icons, to trucks, to GET heroes and lots more.

The game's career mode has over 130 events and nine different race types, with 20 real-world brands such as AMD Radeon and Codemasters themselves as sponsors.

Every sponsor will offer unique rewards and objectives, and completing them will improve your reputation rank, which eventually unlocks an ultimate reward.

The developer Codemasters terms Dirt 5 as the next generation of extreme racing, and it is scheduled for launch in October 2020.
