Cultural Affairs Adviser and film director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said his new movie "840" - a political satire - is an "X-ray report of Awami misrule".

In an interview with Prothom Alo, the director explained, "Cinema draws from real-life experiences. The shooting for this film took place in November 2023, when the Awami League government was in power, which had all the authoritarian mechanisms in place."

The film is set to be released on 13 December nationwide.

The trailer of "840" contains several dialogues and scenes that seem to echo the actions of previous governments.

Earlier, on 6 December, Farooki released the film's trailer on his verified Facebook account and wrote, "When we were shooting this last winter, we didn't even know if it would ever be shown. And today, I'm sharing the trailer of 'Democracy Pvt Ltd' aka '840' with you all."

"I couldn't come up with a good caption because I'm overwhelmed with emotions. Please watch the trailer," he added.

The film features a stellar cast, including Nasir Uddin Khan, Marzuk Russell, Fazlur Rahman Babu, and Zakia Bari Mamo. It also highlights local talents from Rajshahi and Naogaon.

Farooki, known for his sharp satirical lens, had previously captured attention with his film "420", which critiqued contemporary social and political anomalies.

The film "840" is produced by actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha in association with Impress Telefilm.
