Coldplay to perform in first ever World Cup Final Halftime show?

FIFA is set to bring a Super Bowl-style halftime show to the World Cup final for the first time, with Coldplay's Chris Martin leading the curation. The historic event will take place at MetLife Stadium—renamed New York New Jersey Stadium for the tournament—on 19 July, 2026.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the news on Instagram after a FIFA conference in Dallas. "I can confirm the first-ever halftime show at a FIFA World Cup final in New York New Jersey, in association with Global Citizen," he wrote, calling it a "historic moment."
While Infantino didn't specify whether Coldplay would perform, he revealed that Martin and Coldplay's manager, Phil Harvey, will help select the lineup of artists for both the halftime show and FIFA's planned Times Square takeover during the final weekend.
It remains unclear whether the show will extend halftime beyond the usual 15 minutes. FIFA's move mirrors the NFL's long-standing tradition of featuring major artists at the Super Bowl, where Coldplay previously headlined in 2016 with Beyoncé and Bruno Mars.
