Asha Bhosle to be given state funeral
The 92-year-old singer passed away in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital today.
India's Iconic playback singer Asha Bhosle, who redefined Hindi cinema songs cutting across genres, would be accorded a state funeral in Mumbai tomorrow (13 April).
The funeral will take place at 4pm, Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar told reporters.
The 92-year-old singer passed away in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital earlier today due to chest infection and exhaustion, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle said.
Later in the day, her mortal remains were brought to her residence in Lower Parel from the hospital.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid last respects to Bhosle at her residence and offered floral tributes in the evening.
