Google celebrates ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 opener with vibrant doodle
The 13th edition of the Women’s World Cup will run until 2 November across venues in India and Sri Lanka.
Google has unveiled a vibrant cricket-themed doodle to mark the beginning of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, starting today (30 September) in Guwahati, Assam.
The 13th edition of the Women's World Cup will run until 2 November across venues in India and Sri Lanka.
The special Google doodle captures the spirit of the tournament by creatively weaving cricket elements into the company's iconic logo, with colorful bold 3D lettering. A cricket bat and pink ball replace two "O"s, while stumps complete the wordmark. The design reflects both the global appeal of the Women's World Cup and the rapid growth of the women's game.
The tournament, first played in 1973, featured 7 teams, while eight teams participated in this edition, including the defending champion Australia.
India, co-hosting the prestigious event for the fourth time, will be aiming for their maiden title. India will face another host, Sri Lanka, in the opening match.
However, this is not the first time Google has highlighted women's cricket. During the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in the United Arab Emirates, Google released a doodle featuring a cricket ball as one of the "O"s, alongside illustrations of women players in action. That tournament concluded with New Zealand lifting the trophy.
