A Palli Bidyut official was killed in a road accident in Sitakunda of Chattogram on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 11:30am on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at the Chhoto Darogarhat area, in the Chattogram-bound lane, when a covered van collided with a motorcycle. 

Following the crash, the covered van was seized, but the driver managed to flee the scene.

The deceased was identified as Md Imrul Haque, from Khagrachari Sadar. He was serving as a line technician at the Nizampur Palli Bidyut Office in Mirsarai Upazila. 

Imrul was going to his office on his motorcycle when the accident took place.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Alam of Kumira Highway Police Station said, "A covered van hit a motorcyclist, resulting in his death. "

The victim's body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for an autopsy, he added.

"Police are continuing their investigation and working to nab the driver involved in the incident."
