No security threat around Durga Puja: Adviser Jahangir
The home ministry issued 8-point directives for local administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure law and order during the Durga Puja celebrations nationwide
There is no specific threat centring Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said today (6 October).
"Yet, we have taken various steps to ensure smooth and peaceful Puja celebrations," he told journalists after visiting Ramna Kali Mandir in Dhaka.
The home adviser said the Hindu community will be able to celebrate their festival peacefully as law enforcement agencies have taken necessary security measures.

"We have set up arrangements through the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) to ensure that any occurrences are reported immediately," he added.
He emphasised the importance of cooperation from everyone to facilitate smooth worship activities.
Praising the Puja Udjapan Committee, he said that the community members have made excellent arrangements and volunteered to fulfill their duties around the clock.
