A Rajshahi court today (3 October) sent former lawmaker of Rajshahi-4 constituency Abul Kalam Azad to jail.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Saiful Islam passed the order after kalam was produced in the court this afternoon, said Aman Ullah, court inspector of Rajshahi District Police.

Kalam was arrested from the capital's Mirpur area yesterday. Later, he was shown arrested in five cases.

Bagmara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Touhidul Islam said Kalam is accused in five cases related to the attack on students in Bagmara on 5 August. 

The police officer also mentioned that a seven-day remand will be requested for further questioning.
