Muggers attacked a rickshaw passenger in Dhaka's Mohammadpur with sharp weapons yesterday morning (7 September).

CCTV footage of the incident that took place around 6:30am went viral on social media. 

It shows two muggers suddenly attacking a passenger travelling in a battery-run rickshaw.

Armed with knives and machetes, the muggers attempted to stab the passenger multiple times.

The passenger was seen jumping off the rickshaw and attempting to escape by crossing the street. 

At the same time, another individual, who was in a rickshaw ahead, noticed the attack and quickly intervened by throwing bricks at the muggers, showed the video. 

Meanwhile, a truck carrying goods passed by them, and the muggers fled from the area. 

"The culprits have not been identified yet. Legal procedures are underway to file a case in the incident," said Mohammad Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur police station.
