Barrister Taposh said, "The mosquito menace, water-logging, inefficiency in garbage collection and some other burning issues have remained unresolved due to the lack of effective coordination among the inter-connected departments of DSCC"

"Ultimately, people are losing faith in the DSCC. So, I instructed the associated departments to reorganise the work plan and create a new one."

"And any deviation from the newly adopted work plan or any negligence of and inattention to duty of the DSCC officials will not be tolerated as I am eager to relieve the city dwellers from these inconveniences.", added Barrister Taposh.

He also said that if any resident of DSCC finds any deviation or fault to the reshuffled tasks of DSCC staff, they can notify him.

The mayor gave an assurance that he will take stern action against these inconveniences.

Speaking about the water body cleaning drive, Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said, "As a part of this integrated program today (Sunday), the inauguration of cleaning water bodies begins at 10 points inside the DSCC territories."

"Subsequently, the cleaning drive will be implemented in 75 wards of the city corporation throughout the year to contain the breeding and spreading of mosquitoes.", added Barrister Taposh.

He said that the DSCC has already started larvicide and fogging in every ward under the city corporation as per the new schedule.

Eight workers are spraying larvicide from 9 am to 1:00 pm in each ward. In addition to this, 10 workers are conducting the fogging activities from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm regularly.

"Our local councilors actively participating and monitoring the ongoing activities.", said Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.

The mayor also added that from June 21 the city corporation will start to clean the sewers and will also release fish in the cleaned waterbodies to help prevent the breeding of mosquito larvae.

Later the mayor concluded the inauguration program by releasing ducks at Ramna lake as a part of the water body cleaning initiative.
