Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader termed the proposed budget of 2020-21 FY as people-friendly and life-oriented.

He made this comment in a virtual briefing today.

"The government has focused on creating employment, as around 14 lakh people may lose their job due to the coronavirus pandemic," the Awami League general secretary added.

The minister also said, "The government has proposed Tk850 crore in the budget to pay compensation for frontline fighters including doctors, healthcare workers, other frontline government officers and employees infected with or killed by Covid-19."

"In the budget proposal, an allocation of Tk10,000 crore has been proposed to fight the pandemic," he also said.

Obaidul Quader said research is underway in different countries to discover the vaccine of Covid-19. If it is discovered, it will be brought to the country as soon as possible.

In the proposed budget, six long term plans were taken to speed up the share market, the minister said.
