French President Emmanuel Macron has extended his congratulations to Professor Muhammad Yunus on his appointment as the Chief Adviser to Bangladesh's interim government.

"As Bangladesh now enters a period of transition, the interim government you lead will have the important task of preparing the ground for democratic elections and ensuring that a return to calm and national reconciliation can be achieved," Macron wrote.

He also praised the early messages from Prof Yunus promoting these efforts and assured France's full support during this complex period.
