Police have filed a murder case against former member of parliament and whip Saimum Sarwar Kamal and 150 others over the death of an unidentified youth during the student protests on 4 August in Cox's Bazar.

Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Selim Mia filed the case with the police station today (17 August), Officer-in-Charge Md Rakibuzzaman told The Business Standard. 

According to the case document, quota reform activists were protesting on 4 August when the accused attacked and opened fire in the Gungach Tala area of ​​the city killing an unidentified youth.

The main accused in the case is Shahinul Haque Marshal, chairman of Cox's Bazar Zilla Parishad. The second accused is Marshal's brother Kaisarul Haque Jewel, former Sadar upazila chairman. 

The other accused include District Awami League General Secretary Mujibur Rahman, Cox's Bazar Municipal Chhatra League President Hasan Tarek, Cox's Bazar Municipal Mayor Mahabubur Rahman Chowdhury, Cox's Bazar District Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, General Secretary Maruf Adnan. 

About 100-150 unnamed individuals were also accused.
