Ex-health minister Nasim still in critical condition

Former health minister Mohammed Nasim, who tested positive for Covid-19 and suffered a brain hemorrhage, is still in a critical condition at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Dhaka.

"His blood pressure (BP) is unstable and being maintained by giving drugs. He is currently in a deep coma. His condition is still critical," said Prof Dr Raziul Haque, who led the medical team for the brain surgery of Nasim.  

A 13-member medical team, consisting of neurologist, neurosurgery specialist, nephrologist, endocrinologist and internal medicine specialist, has been formed for Nasim's treatment.

Physicians of Bangladesh Specialised Hospital, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Kanak Kanti Barua, Director ofNational Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital Din Mohammad and Cardiac Specialist of Lab Aid Hospital Dr Sohrabuzzaman are in the medical team.

On June 1, Nasim was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital with Covid-19 symptoms, including fever and cold.

He later tested positive for the virus. Then, after suffering a brain haemorrhage, he underwent the brain surgery at the hospital on Saturday. 

Nasim is a diabetic patient. He had suffered a stroke before.
