All ministries and associated divisions, directorates, institutes as well as public, private, and autonomous institutes have to disinfect all rooms, premises, passages before opening an office.

The instruction came in a health ministry letter issued on Saturday with revised health guidelines for workplaces to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

According to the guidelines, a thermal scanner or thermometer has to be set up at the entrance.

All transports have to be disinfected with disinfectant, staff have to seat maintaining physical distance (at least three feet), and everyone has to wear a mask which must be of three-layer fabric mask.

A surgical mask can be used only once whereas fabric mask can be used again after washing with soap.

Everyone has to wash hands with hand sanitiser before starting the journey and on the way as well.

All have to use soap after using a toilet.

All have to maintain physical distance while working in an office.

Officers and other staff have to be reminded of the health guidelines. There will be a vigilant team to monitor if all are following the guidelines.

Apart from these, the guidelines have to be hung in various places where everyone can see.

Lastly, an office must have arrangements to immediately isolate or quarantine a staff if he or she feels sick.
