The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) side Fortune Barishal, who earlier roped in Tamim Iqbal as their captain, have signed big names in the players' draft that took place on Sunday.

Shakib Al Hasan led the side in the previous two editions of the BPL and days after the all-rounder was signed by Rangpur Riders, Barishal announced that Tamim would play for them in the BPL 2024 and also skipper the team. Now they have signed Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar.

It means Tamim, Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah (retained) will feature for the same team in the next season of the BPL. Barishal signed Mushfiqur in the first call for Tk80 lakh.

Mushfiqur, who played for Mashrafe Mortaza's Sylhet Strikers in the last season, is the second-highest run-getter in the history of the tournament, only behind his teammate Tamim.

All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz and fast bowler Khaled Ahmed have also been retained by Barishal. Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran is one of the retained players as well.

They have already signed Pakistan's Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Amir, Fakhar Zaman and Abbas Afridi, Ireland's Paul Stirling and Sri Lanka's Dunith Wellalage.

Fortune Barishal squad for BPL 2024:

Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Khaled Ahmed, Ibrahim Zadran, Shoaib Malik, Fakhar Zaman, Paul Stirling, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mushfiqur Rahim, Rakibul Hasan Jr, Mohammad Saifuddin, Soumya Sarkar and Dunith Wellalage.
