The Election Commission has allotted symbols among five candidates for the Chattogram-10 by-election slated for 30 July.

Awami League nominated candidate Mohiuddin Bacchu got "boat" symbol, independent candidate Islam Bhuyan received "rocket" symbol, Jatiya Party nominated candidate Shamshul Alam was allotted "plough" symbol, Trinamul BNP nominated candidate Dipak Kumar Palit got "golden fibre" symbol, and Gonomukti Jote candidate Rashid Mia received "stick" symbol.

Returning Officer Hasanuzzaman said, "Six candidates submitted nomination papers for the by-polls. The nomination of one candidate has been cancelled. Symbols were allotted to the remaining five candidates on Thursday and they can now start campaigns."

The number of total voters in this constituency is 4,88,638. Polling will be held in 156 centres through Electronic Voting Machines.

The seat, previously held by AL lawmaker Afsarul Amin, became vacant after the politician passed away last month while receiving treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
