How to eat healthier during self-isolation

Most of us are staying home during the coronavirus pandemic. It is a scary and uncertain time for most of us, especially for those who have children or old parents at home. The shutdown and uncertainty might bring our worst eating habits as the experts say stress might increases the appetite for unhealthy foods.

It is important to stay healthy and not to get sick during the lockdown.  This is the ideal time to focus on weight-loss or completely changing your eating habits for the better.

There are ways to maintain a balanced diet at home to keep yourself and your family safe and healthy.

Here are some tips to practice healthy eating at home:

Focus on healthy diet for immunity and good health

Many of us can gain weights while working from home or lack of exercise and activities. In the time of fear and uncertainty, the last thing you want to add to that list is- fear about your body and weight.

You do not want to emerge from this lockdown looking unhealthy. To avoid such hassle, pay attention to your food intake. Eat lots of vegetables, fruits and stay hydrated throughout the day. If you have kids, give them whole gain food, juice and balanced diet to make sure they get proper nutrition.

Antioxidants are important for a healthy body. Find ways to increase the presence of antioxidants in your everyday meals.

Every morning remind yourself to eat healthy because during this time our health cannot be compromised.  

Follow a routine

This is a good for many of us who do not follow a proper routine and stay up pretty late at night. This is a bad habit and infects our digestions system. While staying home during the lockdown, this is something we could work on to improve our daily routine, hence to eat accordingly.

Having a proper routine and disciplined life-style improves our digestions system. Try to eat at set times. If you go to bed early and eat your dinner at least two hours before going to bed, it would help you digest better and  will keep you and your family from reaching for junk foods like chips, chocolate chip cookies at random times.

Get used to the life without takeaways

As everything is shut down and man services are suspended for the time being, unfortunately, we are denied "take-away" convenience during the state of lockdown. Most takeaway restaurants are closed and delivery services are not operating.

Eventually, we are living our lives without takeaway services. Perhaps, this is the habit we can continue to have even after the lockdown.

We can try out new recipes and get the children involved in the process as well.

If you have never tried cooking at home, this is the best time to get started. These days, thanks to the internet, various recipes and tips are available on YouTube and other platforms.

Everything is in your mind. In order to avoid stress-eat, you need to pay attentions your food intake to stay healthy and fit during the difficult time.
