Monica Lewinsky to produce new season of American Crime Story

Third season of the American Crime story is going to focus on the impeachment of President Bill Clinton and the scandalous love affair of Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

According to The Guardian, Lewinsky is set to co-produce the drama titled ‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’ and the former White House intern is ready to tell her part of the narrative.

The drama will star Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky while Sarah Paulson will play Linda Tripp, the civil servant who secretly records phone calls about her affair with Clinton. The actors playing Bill and Hillary Clinton is yet to be named.

Lewinsky was hesitant to be part of the series initially but after having a series of meeting with American Crime Story creator, Ryan Murphy she was confident enough to give her voice after 20 years.

In a statement to Vanity Fair, Lewinsky strongly condemned the manipulative power of the hierarchies, “Powerful people, often men, take advantage of those subordinate to them in myriad ways all the time,” she continued. “Many people will see this as such a story, and for that reason, this narrative is one that is, regretfully, evergreen.”

The series has been adapted from Jeffrey Toobin’s 1999 book "A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President" and is set to premiere around September 2020.

American Crime Story is a critically acclaimed series which focuses on the landmark events of recent US history.

The first season focused on the O.J. Simpson trial while the second season centered on the infamous murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace.
