Turn every house into fortress of Mujib’s ideology: Sheikh Rehana

Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has called upon the people of the country to work for bringing smile to the distressed people's face.

In her speech delivered on the occasion of Bangabandhu's birth centenary on Tuesday, Rehana said, "Let us promise on this day to work with everything we have to bring smile to distressed people's face. We will build a beautiful, rich country free from poverty, corruption and illiteracy."

"We will love the Golden Bengal. We will keep ourselves free from envy."

"We will turn every house into the fortress of Mujib's ideology and spread its light. No one can suppress us," Rehana said in her speech.

Rehana also remembered Bangabandhu's mother Sheikh Sayera Khatun, father Sheikh Lutfar Rahman, and beloved companion 'Renu' (Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib) in her speech.

Referring to Bangabandhu's immense sacrifices, Rehana said, "Father said that people of no nation can raise their heads with dignity without making some sacrifices. In 'The Unfinished Memoirs' written by him we can find how much sacrifice a person can make for the country and the people."

"He never bowed down to injustice. He always kept himself away from greed and sensual or earthly pleasures and did not compromise. He was always concerned with welfare of the humankind," remembered Rehana.

"Very few people like him have been born in this earth. And when they come to this earth, they stay here for a very short time. My father is not among us anymore. He is in the hearts of crores of people," said the younger daughter of Bangabandhu.

Rehana concluded her speech by praying for the eternal peace of Bangabandhu's soul.
