Mukul, Saikat to officiate U19 WC matches

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed two Bangladeshi umpires to officiate the matches of ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.

This is the first that the world cricket apex body has appointed two Bangladeshi umpires for an ICC event, a BCB statement said.

The two umpires– Sharfuddowla Ibne Shahid Saikat and Masudur Rahman Mukul will leave the country for South Africa tomorrow (Tuesday). They are however the BCB International panel umpires but didn't get any opportunity to officiate matches in ICC event earlier.

Mukul will officiate in four matches in the event while Saikat will stand as umpire in three matches. Apart from standing as umpires, they will act as TV umpire and fourth umpire in various matches.

The youth World Cup begins from January 12 with the match between South Africa and Sri Lanka.
