No students to be expelled in PEC, Ebtedayee exams
On December 19, the High Court directed the primary education ministry to retake exams of the students who were expelled in November
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has decided not to expel any examinees of the Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee terminal exams from now on.
The ministry on Thursday amended the rules at an emergency meeting, following a High Court order.
Earlier on December 19 this year, the High Court directed the authorities concerned to retake examination, by December 28, of the students who were expelled from the PEC and equivalent Ebtedayee terminal exams between November 17 and 24.

The director general of primary education has also been asked to appear before the court on January 8 with necessary documents to explain their position regarding the expulsion of the students.
Md Delwar Hossain, deputy director of the Primary Education Directorate told The Business Standard that in accordance with the government's amendment to the rule, students who undertake primary school completion exams will no longer be expelled.
The authorities amended section 11 of the directives which were previously applied to take steps against students over the violation of rules during the examination.
According to the section, the students would be barred from taking one or entire exams for speaking with each other, carrying unauthorised paper or objects, showing the answers to each other and using other objects except the answer sheet in examination centre.
Around 200 students were expelled from PEC and Ebtedayee exams held in November this year.
After the High Court's order, the Primary and Mass Education Ministry announced to retake examinations of the expelled students on December 24, 26 and 28. The exams are being held now.
