Addressing the meeting, the Finance Minister highlighted the economic growth of Bangladesh. He said, "Bangladesh has achieved an average of 7.4% economic growth in the last 10 years."

"Even at a time when the global economy has shrunk by 3%, Bangladesh has been among the top five resilient economies, according to surveys by several international organisations," the minister said.

The minister also highlighted the history of the Commonwealth in his speech.

"I firmly believe that through concerted efforts, Commonwealth countries will be able to achieve greater socio-economic prosperity with inter-Commonwealth trade and investment, and through sharing knowledge, technology, and good practices," he added.
