Why won’t censor certificate of ‘No Dorai’ be revoked: High Court

The High Court on Tuesday issued a ruling, asking for explanations why the censor certificate of "No Dorai", the first movie on surfing, should not be revoked.

The ruling also asked for explanations why shows of the movie in cinema halls will not be stopped and comic books "Adventure of Ayesha" and videos withdrawn from market.

A high court bench of Justice Enaetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the rule after hearing a writ filed on Sunday by a Supreme Court lawyer.

The High Court asked information secretary, law secretary, and the movie's producer, script writer, and the director to respond to the rule within four weeks.

Gazi Md Gias Uddin stood on behalf of the writ in the court while Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukder stood for the state.

Earlier on December 4, Supreme Court lawyer Muhammad Huzzatul Islam Khan sent a legal notice to these five people, alleging that the movie hurts religious sentiment and asked them to seek unconditional pardon.
