Closure of schools, colleges extended further till 30 June

The Education Ministry has extended the closure of the primary and higher secondary schools and colleges till 30 June.
"The Covid-19 situation worsened in some districts and lockdown has been imposed in many areas. Considering the health security of students, teachers, staff and guardians, and following advice of Covid-19 technical committee, the closure has been extended," said a press release of the ministry today.
For primary level students, their parents were instructed to ensure that students continue study at home which local administration will monitor closely. The headmasters of the concerned schools will ensure that their respective students study their textbooks at their residence through the parents and guardians.
Primary, secondary and higher secondary level institutions across the country were supposed to reopen on 13 June if the Covid-19 situation gets favourable.
But Covid-19 cases have increased in bordering areas. In some districts, the infection rate has risen alarmingly.
Bangladesh on Friday crossed the grim milestone of 13,000 deaths (exact numbers - 13,032). However, the fatality rate remained unchanged at 1.58%.
Also, the upward trend in Covid-19 infections continued as for the second consecutive day over 2,000 (exact numbers - 2,454) cases were during the same period.
