Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army General Aziz Ahmed accorded reception to the Gallantry Award Holder Freedom Fighters of Bangladesh Army at a ceremony at Army Multipurpose Complex at Dhaka Cantonment, marking the Armed Forces Day-2019.

Freedom Fighters, who played a vital role during the Liberation War in 1971 and their successors were also awarded reception at the ceremony, said an ISPR press release.

A total 75 freedom fighters and their successors were awarded reception at the programme.

Chief of Air Staff exchanged greetings with the freedom fighters and their successors.

In his speech, the Army Chief remembered the contribution of Freedom Fighters (Gallantry Award Holder) to Liberation War of 1971 with rich tributes and gratitude.

He also said the nation would never forget their sacrifices. Senior army officers were present on the occasion.

After the programme, General Aziz told the reporters that the work of erecting barbed-wire fence at Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar has started.

At the first phase, the fence would be erected at Kutupalng in Ukhia and Noapara in Teknaf, he said adding, the government has approved construction of 287 kilometers of road along the Bangladesh-Myanmar frontiers.
