EMK Center holds virtual exhibition to celebrate World Full Moon Day
EMK Center and Dhaka Photo Academy Awards took initiative to commemorate by organizing an online photography competition and exhibition on Moon Photography
EMK Center has organized an online photography competition and exhibition on Moon Photography in partnership with Dhaka Photo Academy Awards to celebrate World Full Moon Day.
Full Moon Day in May is celebrated as Vesak or the Day of Full Moon around the world to remember the teachings of Buddha and to acknowledge his message of compassion and devotion to the service of humanity, says a press release EMK center.
It is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists around the world. It was on the Day of Vesak two and a half millennia ago, in the year 623 B.C., that the Buddha was born. It was also on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha attained enlightenment, and it was on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha in his eightieth year passed away. The date of Vesak changes each year as it takes place at the time of the first full moon of the ancient lunar month of Vesakha.

EMK Center and Dhaka Photo Academy Awards took initiative to commemorate by organizing an online photography competition and exhibition on Moon Photography. The registration process started weeks before. A total of 200 photos were submitted by photography enthusiasts. The photographs beautifully illustrate the beauty of moon from different place and angle.
Fatema Tuz Zohora Sheela, a student of University of Dhaka and participator of the exhibition shared, "I love moon since my childhood and whenever I visit my hometown, I never miss to capture moon in dark night. Every time I look at the moon, it captures me with a mired beauty."
Tariqul Alam Chowdhury's photography describes moon as a sign of hope. "In India moon is worshiped as God and there are a lot of stories about it. I always look at moon when I look for hope and seek positivity in my life" he explained.
Another participant, MD Rakibul Islam thanked EMK Center and Dhaka Photo Academy Awards for arranging this exhibition. He said, "Due to pandemic, I could not visit exhibitions and art academy physically. I thank to the organisers for arranging such an amazing exhibition on online."
"The aim of this virtual exhibition is to appreciate the beauty of moon and encourage the art of creativity among all" shared, Aaqib Md. Shatil, Program Coordinator of EMK Center.
