MP Bubly expelled from Narsingdi AL for proxy in exams

Bangladesh Awami League's Narsingdi unit has expelled its Women Affairs Secretary Tamanna Nusrat Bubly, a lawmaker for reserved seats for women, for using proxy to pass examinations.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the district Awami League today, reports Prothom Alo.

Earlier in October, Bubly, wife of late Narsingdi municipal mayor Lokman Hossain, was expelled by Bangladesh Open University for allegedly hiring as many as eight lookalikes to take her place in examinations.

The scandal emerged after a private TV channel entered a test hall and confronted one of the women posing as Bubly, in a video that went viral.

Bubly is accused of paying the lookalikes to seat for her in at least 13 tests.
