Section 144 imposed in Tangail

Local administration has imposed Section 144 in Tangail municipality area as two factions of Awami League announced separate programmes at the same venue at same time today. 

The three-day embargo on gatherings was imposed from 5am Thursday and will end at 7pm Saturday, said Mir Mosharraf Hossain, the officer-in-charge of Tangail Model Police Station.  

Tangail-3 former MP Amanur Rahman Khan Rana planned to hold a rally over observing death anniversary of his older brother, and another fraction planned some other events at the same venue and time.

The administration slapped the ban to avert any untoward situation centring the programmes between the party activists, said the OC.

Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
